WestportNow: Westport Democrats Back Malloy Over Lamont 11-6

News from the state convention.

WestportNow is reporting state and local Democrats meeting in Hartford today endorsed former Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy for governor.

He was nominated by a 2-1 margin over challenger Ned Lamont, a Greenwich businessman. Westport Democrats voted 11 for Malloy and 6 for Lamont, which is enough votes for a primary.

According to the Stamford Advocate, Lamont will challenge Malloy this summer in what could be a "divisive Democratic gubernatorial primary."
