area, down the chute, inside the back of the dryer, and works its way into the
dryer vent hose.  It is sort of like cholesterol clogged arteries.  Lint restricts the and air flow.  If it isn’t cleaned, it can even build up enough to block the vent hood flapper on the side of the house.  As this lint builds up, it may cause the dryer to overheat and it can become a potential fire hazard.  Lint is highly flammable.  Lint buildup can become a costly, dangerous and even deadly combination.” 

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, there are an estimated annual 15,500 fires, 10 deaths and 10 injuries due to clothes dryer fires. Several hundred people a year are also subjected to carbon monoxide poisoning from improper dryer vent setups. The financial costs come to nearly $100,000,000 per year. In some cases faulty appliances are to blame, but many fires can be prevented with proper dryer venting.

Fogel says that you can certainly do some of this work on your own.  “We recommend you disconnect, clean and inspect the dryer duct run on a regular basis. This will reduce the likelihood of a fire, increase the dryer's efficiency and increase the lifespan of your dryer.  If you find you don’t have the time or aren’t ready to tackle the job, give us a call.  We will come in and disconnect, clean and
inspect the dryer duct run, vacuum to remove accumulated lint from under the
lint trap and other accessible places, and thoroughly clean out the motor area
to make sure your machine is running safely and as efficiently as possible.  Then all you need to do is clean the lint trap on a regular basis.”
