Westport’s Cafeterias Graded for Safety, Cleanliness

High marks for all the schools, although Bedford Middle School slipped heavily since the last inspection.

A database created by the Connecticut Health I-Team graded school cafeterias in 103 municipalities throughout Connecticut. Despite some violations, Westport’s school ranked highly in terms of safety and cleanliness in the most recent inspections.

Schools are graded on a scale of 1-100 and Westport’s cafeterias are inspected four times a year.

The lowest mark went to Bedford Elementary, which scored an 86 due to having partly due to having no written training records, put carrots on the plat without wearing gloves and improperly covering food. In the previous inspection in May 2010, the school scored a 100.
