Westport Historical Society presents: Fly Fishing the Saugatuck

Fly Fishing the Saugatuck River Watershed: From the Woods   If you’ve ever wondered about the types and quality of fly fishing available in lower FairfieldCounty, you’ll want to be on hand when guide and author Jeff Yates speaks at the Westport Historical Society on Aug. 7. The fourth-generation Wilton resident, who has been fly fishing the waters of Fairfield County for over 20 years, will cover access points and tactics for success, the wide range of fishing in the area, including stalking trophy trout, and seeking solitude and scenery on several native brook trout streams. Yates has titled his talk “Fly Fishing the Saugatuck River Watershed: From the Woods of Redding to Beaches of Westport.” It begins at 7 p.m. at the Westport Historical Society, 25 Avery Place across from Westport Town Hall. Afterward, the author will sign copies of his book, “Fly Fishing Fairfield County: Secrets of Suburban Streams.”  For more information go to www.westporthistory.org or call 203-222-1424, Suggested Donation: $5
