The Staples boys basketball team has turned around its season following an 2-4 start.

But the Wreckers (6-4) will be hard-pressed to extend their four-game winning streak on Tuesday as they visit undefeated St. Joseph (7 p.m.) which is ranked No. 1 in the state four the fourth consecutive week.

Michael Argosh scored 15 points and Peter Rankowitz added 14 for the Wreckers in Thursday's 58-45 victory over Darien.  It was Staples' fifth win in six games, which has allowed the Wreckers to climb into FCIAC playoff contention.

St. Joseph has been off since defeating Danbury 84-66 last Tuesday.

On the girls side, Staples (8-4, 7-3) hosts the Cadets (11-2, 9-2) in a key FCIAC contest at 7 p.m.

St. Joseph, which has a one-half game lead over Wilton for first place in the FCIAC East, is coming off a 52-21 rout of Bassick on Friday.

Staples had a three-game winning streak snapped with a 46-43 loss to Darien on Thursday. The Wreckers are fith in the FCIAC standings, one game ahead of Darien, Norwalk and Westhill, who are all 6-4, and one game behind St. Joseph in the loss column.
