Led by triple winner Henry Wynne, the boys indoor track team won the FCIAC Western Division championship on Saturday. The Wreckers  had 185.5, well ahead of runner-up Danbury (132.3)

Wynne won the 1,000 1,600 and 3,200-meter races while the Wreckers also finished first in three field events -- high jump (Ethan Bradeen), pole vault (Dean Hefnawy) and long jump (Maxwell Hoberman).

The Staples girls finished second behind Danbury with 96.3 points. Lexie Schachne won the pole vault for the Wreckers while Caroline Koenig finished second in the 1,600 and third in the 3,200.

Theboys basketball team suffered a 60-51 loss to Fairfield Warde on Friday.

Sal Siciliano scored 18 points to lead the Mustangs, who improved to 6-6 overall and 4-6 in the FCIAC. Warde needs two wins to make the state tournament after just missing last season (7-13).

Mike Wright added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Mustangs while Siciliano also grabbed 10 boards.

Mike Argosh scored 14 and Pete Rankowitz added 10 for the Wreckers, who lost their second straight and dropped to 6-7 and 5-6.

The Mustangs built a 13-8 lead after the first quarter before Staples pulled within 27-23 at the intermission.

The Wreckers then closed within 42-39 after the third quarter but Warde held on by outscoring Staples 18-12 over the final eight minutes.

Jamera Fountain scored 19 points and Kate Kerrigan added 13 as the Fairfield Warde girls basketball team defeated Staples 52-40 on Friday.

The Mustangs ( 9-5, 7-5) won their fifth straight game to tie Norwalk, Stamford, Staples and Darien for seventh place in the FCIAC standings.

Jess Coelho scored 11 points to lead Staples, but she was blanked in the first half, when Ludlowe built a 24-17 halftime lead.

Staples (8-6, 7-5) trailed by as many as 17 points late in the third quarter en route to its second straight defeat.

Sydney Houseworth added 10 for the Wreckers, whose only lead came at 2-0. Warde used an 8-0 run to build a 12-4 lead after the first quarter and never was threatened thereafter.

Lukas Znosko scored theee goals Saturday as the Westhill boys hockey team posted a wild 7-6 victory over Staples-Weston-Shelton at the Milford Ice Pavilion.

Evan Shaulson added two goals for the Vikings, who won their second straight game to improve to 2-8-1.

Dan Rotkewicz and Billy Silk also scored for the Vikings, who rallied from a 3-0 deficit after the first period. Westhill trailed 5-4 entering the third period.

Forest Savage had three goals for the Wreckers, who dropped to 6-4 after their third straight loss.

Zachery Speed added two goals and Sean Stewart scored once for Staples-Weston-Shelton.

Saturday's game saw a combined five goaltenders see action. Adam Goldstone and Tyler Phillipson combined to make 23 saves for Westhill while the trio of Zach Polin, Jeffrey Burns and Dylan Batterson stopped 36 shots for the Wreckers.
