The boys basketball team will be hosting its 16th annual MLK Basketball Clinic on Monday, Jan. 16 at the Staples High School Field House.

The single session will run from 9-11 a.m. Sign-in and warm-ups take place from 8:30-9 a.m. The cost is $35 per child and $60 for two brothers.

The clinic is open to all boys in grades 2-8 who are interested in developing their basketball skills with the Staples JV and varsity boys basketball players.

Participants will be grouped by skill level to ensure personalized attention. Basketballs will be provided. Bring a water bottle. All participants will receive a Staples basketball t-shirt and a complimentary season pass for all home games.

While most FCIAC basketball teams returned to the court on Tuesday, the Staples teams will have a few extra days off.

The Wreckers' girls and boys team don't resume their FCIAC schedules until Friday against Fairfield Ludlowe.

The Staples boys are 2-3 after defeating Newtown 65-56 in the consolation game of the Ridgefield holiday tournament on Thursday.

The Staples girls slipped to 5-2 with a 46-41 loss at St. Joseph on Friday in the championship game of the Notre Dame of Fairfield Appalachian Christmas tournament.
