After Wilton and Norwalk clinched spots on Monday, two berths are still up for grabs in the FCIAC girls basketball playoffs heading into the final game of the regular season on Wednesday.
Four teams are battling for those two slots as Stamford, Darien, Fairfield Warde and are all at 10-7 heading into their final games.
The biggest contest on Wednesday's schedule is Fairfield Warde at Stamford, which is a winner-take-all battle.
Mustangs coach Dave Danko has talked all year about defending homecourt, and the Mustangs have done an excellent job of that as they are undefeated this season wearing the home uniforms. They need one more home win to return to the FCIAC playoffs for the first time since 2009.
Darien also is in the driver's seat following Monday's 49-42 win over Warde and only needs to beat winless Bassick to get in. Staples needs to win at Ridgefield and hope that Darien somehow loses to Bassick to sneak into the playoffs, which seems highly unlikely.
The Stamford-Warde loser theorectically could still get in if Darien falls to Bassick, but don't hold your breath waiting for that happen as the Lions are 0-19. Essentially, it means that the Stamford-Warde loser will miss the playoffs.
Here's a look at the playoff breakdown:
-- Danbury (17-0) clinched the top seed with Monday's 43-40 win over Trumbull and will host a quarterfinal game on Saturday.
-- St. Joseph (14-3) and Trumbull (14-3) are tied for second, but the Cadets hold the tiebreaker based on a win over the Eagles, and can secure the No. 2 seed with a win over Greenwich on Wednesday. Trumbull needs a win over Harding and a St. Joseph loss to Greenwich to climb into the No. 2 spot. Both St. Joseph and Trumbull will host quarterfinal games on Wednesday.
-- Wilton (14-5), which clinched a playoff spot with a 46-40 win over Trinity Catholic on Monday, can secure the No. 4 seed and final home game in the playoffs with a win at Bridgeport Central. Norwalk (14-5), which lost to Wilton, needs a Warriors' loss and a victory at Westhill to grab the No. 4 spot.
-- Trinity Catholic (12-6) has concluded its regular season and likely will be the fifth or sixth seed. A Norwalk loss moves the Crusaders up to No. 5.
-- The Fairfield Warde-Stamford winner secures a berth in a three-way tie with Darien and Staples.
In an 11-7 tie between Stamford, Darien and Staples, the Black Knights grab the No. 7 seed based on wins over the Blue Wave and Wreckers. Darien then gets the No. 8 seed by virtue of its win over Staples.
In an 11-7 tie between, Warde, Darien and Staples, Darien secures the No. 7 seed because of its win over the Mustangs and Wreckers. Warde grabs the No. 8 seed by virtue of its win over the Wreckers.
-- Staples is the odd team out in a three-way tie with Darien and the Warde-Stamford winner.
-- Westhill (9-8) is technically alive and can create a four-way tie at 10-8 with Darien, Staples and the Warde-Stamford loser if it beats Norwalk and the Blue Wave and Wreckers lose, but don't bet on that happening.
