Westport’s newest sushi restaurant, located across the street from the Westport Weston Family Y, will celebrate its grand opening with a sushi & sake tasting event that will be open to the public today at 3 p.m.
Using only the freshest, highest quality ingredients, Pink Sumo’s Sushi Chef—formerly of Nobu—has created a variety of exquisite dishes, according to Melissa Park, a representative for Pink Sumo.
“With so many wonderful dining options open to people, there really isn't room for mediocrity,” Park said. “People in Westport and in Fairfield County, in general, know what they want and they set the bar high.”
Pink Sumo Sushi & Sake Café guests will have the chance to sample fresh, high-quality sushi and a selection of quality sake Wednesday afternoon. 20 percent of sales generated during the event will be donated to Homes with Hope, a local charity that supports homeless people.

“This is Pink Sumo's way of giving back to the community that it is so proud to be a part of,” a grand opening announcement said.
Pink Sumo Sushi & Sake Café will be closed to the public from 12 – 2 p.m. Wednesday for a private, invitation-only event. Pink Sumo's regular hours are Monday - Thursday 11 a.m. - 10 p.m., Friday - Saturday, 11 a.m. - 11 p.m., and Sunday, 12 - 10 p.m.
Capturing a balance of tradition and imagination, Pink Sumo’s menu features more than 30 appetizers and an impressive array of fresh sushi and sashimi. Pink Sumo also offers sake drinkers more than 30 types of quality sake, according to Park.
