COPS: Man Arrested for Strangling, Assaulting Westport Nurse

The alleged assault occurred at the Hall Brooke Behavior Health Hospital, police said. The hospital specializes in substance abuse and mental health treatment.

Clifton Griffiths, 61, of Bridgeport, was charged April 18 with third-degree strangulation and assault on a public safety member, according to an arrest report from the Westport Police Department.

Westport police responded to the Bridgeport Police Department where Griffiths was being held on an active arrest warrant, police said. The warrant stems from an incident in February where Griffiths allegedly assaulted a nurse at the Hall Brooke Behavior Health Hospital, the arrest report states.

The hospital, located at 47 Long Lots Road, specializes in substance abuse and mental health treatment.

Griffiths was unable to post the court set $2,500 bond. He was transported to Norwalk Superior Court for arraignment, police said.
