Autopsy Performed on Westport House Fire Victim

The Friday afternoon fatal house fire remains under investigation by authorities.

Update: 11:00 a.m. Monday

An Autopsy was conducted on 70-year-old Anne Christopher, the victim of the fatal fire at 16 Center Street, by the Office of Chief Medical Examiners located in Farmington.

The medical examiners findings were that the cause of death was certified as smoke inhalation and that the manner of the death was accidental.

At this point the investigation into the fire cause and origin continues by the Westport Fire Marshal’s Office and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Officials have confirmed that a house fire at 16 Center Street this afternoon resulted in a fatality. 

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, officials say.

According to a report published by WestportNow.com, the home belongs to a 70-year-old woman, Anne M. Christopher. Fire officials have not confirmed Christopher as the victim, though.
