NY Men Charged with Westport Barnes & Noble Larceny

Westport police responded at 3 p.m. Wednesday to the Barnes & Noble Book Store at 1076 Post Road East on a report of a larceny in progress.

 

Employees at positively identified two suspects who allegedly stole large quantities of books and fled the area on foot, police said.

Responding officers were able to locate and detain the two suspects. 

“The investigation determined that the suspects allegedly stole $868 worth of books from the store,” said Westport Police Lieutenant Arthur Belile, adding that a Jaguar bearing a Georgia license plate was located and identified as the car used to arrive at the store. 

Officers located large quantities of books in plain sight inside the vehicle, Belile said.

charged Alfred Green, 40, of Brooklyn, New York, with criminal attempt at fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny. He was issued a $500 bond.

Police also charged 37-year-old Raheim Pope, of Brooklyn, New York, with fifth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer. He was issued a $5,000 bond.
