Two Hospitalized Following Four-Car Accident in Westport

Four vehicles we sprawled in the left lane and on the right shoulder of the Merritt Parkway.

 

Westport Firefighters responded to a four-vehicle accident that left traffic backed up on the Merritt Parkway southbound, between exits 42 & 41 at about 7 a.m. Friday, according to Westport Fire Department Deputy Chief Robert Kepchar.

Four vehicles we sprawled in the left lane and on the right shoulder. Firefighters immediately went to work treating three patients and securing the four vehicles, which included cleaning up spilled fluids, Kepchar said.

The patients were turned over to Westport EMS and two of the patients were transported to Norwalk Hospital for further treatment, according to Kepchar. Tow trucks responded to remove the four vehicles, while State Police handled the traffic. The parkway was fully opened at about 8 a.m., Kepchar said.
