When a officer saw a driver traveling at high rate of speed on Compo Road South he initiated a traffic stop and soon detected the odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle, police said.
The driver, identified as 21-year-old Alexander Crosby, was asked to perform field sobriety tests, but failed, police said.
Westport police charged Crosby with driving under the influence and issued him a speeding violation. He was taken into custody and released on a $500 bond. He is due in court July 9.
