Family Owned for 50 Years, Main St. Building in Westport Sells

The Remarkable Bookshop served generations of local writers and readers at the end of Main Street in an 18th Century sea captain's home, before it was turned into Talbots.

The Remarkable Bookshop premises at 177 Main St. was sold for $4.2 million during the holiday season.

"It has been family-owned for almost 50 years.  I am sorry to see it go, but the family managers live out of town." said Sidney Kramer, whose wife, Esther, ran the bookshop for almost 35 years, prior to a 15-year tenancy by Talbots.
