UCONN Beats Maryland 76 - 50

UCONN's Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Breanna Stewart led the Huskies to victory with 17 points each.

 

The number-one seeded UCONN women’s basketball team knocked off fourth-seeded Maryland 76-50 on Saturday in the Bridgeport regional semifinals, according to a report on ESPN.com.

UCONN’s Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Breanna Stewart led the Huskies to victory with 17 points each during their Sweet 16 matchup against the Wildcats.

Connecticut led 35-26 at the break and opened the second half with a 9-0 run. The Huskies outrebounded the Wildcats 24-20 in the first half.

This was UCONN's eighth straight NCAA regional final victory, leaving UCONN at 44-4 in NCAA Tournament games played in Connecticut and 8-1 in Bridgeport.

The Huskies will face Kentucky on Monday in a rematch of last year's regional final. Connecticut was victorious over Kentucky last year 80-65.
